Hardwood Staves are sold in packages of 25 each, and are approximately 24 inches long. They're available in Cherry, Oak, Walnut or Maple and come in a variety of sizes.

You can have your staves cut and tapered for a specific mold, or have the whole pack cut, tapered or sanded. To order customized staves, click here. Customization must be ordered separately and will be charged at the time of shipping.

Care and Storage for your Hardwood Staves
Because of our packaging for Hardwood Staves, the following care should be taken to keep your staves fresh. Our packaging ensures that your staves will be fresh from the time we cut them until the time your order them. Upon receipt of your staves, we strongly suggest that your re-freeze them until you're ready to begin your basket. If you are unable to freeze your staves, please open the package to allow air circulation. This procedure will prevent your staves from developing any mold or mildew.  Unless you follow these steps, we cannot guarantee the freshness of your staves.

if it helps, i sand all the staves, then soak in hot water then insert into base, and mold using rubber band to hold them in place until dry, 24 hrs, remove from base to stain,then reinsert to weave,alot of extra effort, but worth it in sturdiness, very strong basket.

Hardwood staves
As always, quality was excellent. These cherry and walnut staves are very uniform in dimension and shape nicely in the construction of a very strong basket.

Hardwood cherry staves
They are lovely looking, but I was disappointed they were so brittle. I have kept them in the freezer until I used them, soaked them in water along with the cane, but they still broke very easily. I don't think I will try them again despite their beauty. Any help in limbering them up would be great.
